Basement Players Theatre Group

Basement Players Inc. began 25 years ago

to raise money for some local churches. It

was co-founded by Glendon Kerr and Joyce

 Griffith. While it's membership was

orginally United Church based, it is now a

community based group. The theatre group

evolved from variety shows the church put

on more than two decades ago after which

Glendon Kerr said he'd like to do a three

act play. Their first play "Too Many

Andersons" was so much fun they decided to

keep doing plays. Now 25 years later, they

do 12 to 14 shows a season. This years

production includes 11 actors, the director

and two prompters. Members which include

 retirees, a mechanic, hospital staff,

real estate agent, customer

service reps, and labourers, come from a

variety of Kings County Communities,

 including, Belleisle, Sussex, Sussex Corner,

 Norton, Springfield and Hampton.
